ABOUT THE FOUNDER
David Hodson, RN, MSHI, PMP — Founder & Principal Advisor
David Hodson founded Captivant Consulting to bring structure and leadership to the part of healthcare technology that too often goes unmanaged: everything beyond the EHR. Across more than 20 years in healthcare — the last decade-plus in digital health — he has led the enterprise programs where clinical care, technology, and operations collide, and built Captivant to focus squarely on the ancillary applications, integrations, and third-party systems where delivery risk, data integrity, and go-live exposure concentrate.David's perspective is distinctive because his path is. He began at the bedside as a registered nurse, moved into clinical informatics, and went on to lead enterprise PMO, program, and solution-architecture work across major multi-hospital health systems, a healthcare technology vendor, and national healthcare IT consultancies. That progression — clinician to informaticist to enterprise program leader — lets him translate fluently between clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders and keep complex initiatives aligned and decisions defensible. His recent work centers on healthcare M&A integration and EHR transitions across Epic and Cerner environments at multi-hospital scale: building enterprise application and interface inventories, mapping HL7 and FHIR dependencies, planning TSA exits, and leading the safe rationalization, archival, and decommissioning of legacy systems under compressed timelines. He maintains an active RN license and is a certified Project Management Professional, with a master's in health informatics.A United States Marine Corps veteran, David built Captivant as a VBE- and VOSB-certified veteran-owned firm, carrying a mission-ready mindset — accountability, adaptability, and measurable results — into every engagement. Captivant is deliberately vendor-neutral: no software resale, no client-data retention, and every deliverable built for full client ownership.

Our story
How we got here.
Captivant was founded on a simple observation: healthcare organizations invest heavily in the EHR, but many of their most difficult challenges exist in the systems surrounding it. Clinical integrations, ancillary applications, operational platforms, and technology transitions often receive less attention despite their critical role in patient care and organizational performance.
